Crypto traders using leverage to bet on Bitcoin’s price trajectory are getting whiplash. In the last 24 hours, $655 million in leveraged crypto bets have been liquidated, according to the market data tracker CoinGlass. The liquidations coincided with rapid updates on President Trump’s push to acquire Greenland and impose new tariffs on EU countries that failed to go along with his plan. The day began with Bitcoin rising from $88,224 to $90,295, a move that liquidated more than $75 million in shorts. BTC then abruptly reversed back down to $87,304, liquidating around $145 million in longs. That’s when President Trump decided…
The chief investment officer at a digital asset investment firm is raising new questions over the future of crypto for one key reason. Arca CIO Jeff Dorman says he believes Bitcoin (BTC) and many other digital assets are unlikely to see values increase from the explosion in the tokenization of assets. Dorman warns there may only be a few beneficiaries from the latest big trend in blockchain use cases such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) plan to launch a tokenized securities platform for 24/7 trading and stablecoin-based funding. Coinbase says asset transfers and trading for the listed assets are not supported until an official trading announcement is made. The exchange also warns that depositing these assets into a Coinbase account before support is live may result in permanent loss of funds. Seeker is a Solana-based utility and governance token tied to…
The Optimism Foundation’s proposal for a token buyback goes to a vote on January 22, 2026. OP price has fallen sharply over the past year, and sentiment is largely bearish. The buyback could catalyze gains, with OP eyeing $0.52-$0.75. Optimism’s OP token changed hands around $0.30 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, slightly up in the past 24 hours as the community edges towards a key governance vote. But having traded to intraday highs of $0.37 last week, the token’s dip to current levels risks allowing for a pullback to all-time lows of $0.25 reached in December. Can Optimism Foundation’s plans…
